Arts & Humanities of Stehekin
Where artists and nature come together
Our Story
Artists in Stehekin, Washington in 1994 formed Arts & Humanities of Stehekin and started the Golden West Gallery as a community endeavor to promote understanding of the arts. The non-profit organization is a combined volunteer effort of artistically inclined folks. For over a quarter century AHS has provided artistic interpretation of this rugged wilderness through a variety of mediums: drawing, painting, prints, photography, sculpture, fabric, music, prose, poetry and dance through exhibits, presentations, and educational programs.

Our Events
Exhibits
Arts & Humanities of Stehekin opened the Golden West Gallery in 1994 with the cooperation of the North Cascades National Park in the visitor center. During the sun-soaked summers, the gallery celebrates the arts in a beautiful room full of light from its many windows with views of Lake Chelan and majestic Castle Peak. Currently the gallery is closed due to Covid-19, but we plan to have exhibits in the gallery next summer.
Educational Programs/Presentations
Education is an important objective of AHS. Gallery exhibitors and other artists lead hand-on workshops and provide demonstrations and presentations related to their artwork. These programs offer an unique opportunity for artists to discuss their process and motivations, and give community members and visitors an inside look into the creative process and maybe learn a new skill, too!
“Nature is not only all that is visible to the eye… it also includes the inner pictures of the soul.”
